Nicole R. Smith, MD has experience in helping people with a wide range of concerns, including psychosis, depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and grief. She is open-minded and passionate about serving the LGBTQ community. She believes that all individuals should be treated with equal respect, kindness, and acceptance. Dr. Smith is an advocate of shared decision making and strives to understand what matters most to individuals seeking care.
Dr. Smith studied Biology at the University of South Carolina Honors College and then completed her medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. She attended Adult Psychiatry Residency at Dartmouth in Lebanon, NH before coming to the DC area to complete her training and specialize in clinical and translational research at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). In addition to providing care at the Healthy Foundations Group, she continues to work at the NIMH where she uses neuroimaging to better understand the interaction between brain biology and behavior.
