Nicole R. Smith, MD has experience in helping people with a wide range of concerns, including psychosis, depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and grief. She is very passionate about serving the LGBTQ+ community and young adults but is able to see adults of all ages and backgrounds. She believes that all individuals should be treated with equal respect, kindness, and acceptance. Dr. Smith is an advocate of shared decision-making and strives to understand what matters most to individuals seeking care. Because the brain is not isolated from the rest of the body, she aims to take your whole body’s health into account, taking the time when needed to discuss complex medical problems and the interactions they might have with your mental health.
Dr. Smith studied Biology at the University of South Carolina Honors College and then completed her medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. She attended Adult Psychiatry Residency at Dartmouth in Lebanon, NH, then went to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) for a fellowship in Clinical and Translational Research to better understand the interactions between brain biology and behavior.
