Lisa Slobodzian, LMSW, is a graduate of The Catholic University of America having earned her master’s degree in clinical social work as well as her bachelor’s degree in psychology.
In the therapy setting, it is most important to Lisa that her clients feel safe, understood, and reminded of their dignity. She believes it is a privilege to join with clients on their healing journey.
Before joining Healthy Foundations Group, Lisa worked as a medical case manager for a D.C. nonprofit, seeing clients who were experiencing HIV, homelessness and substance use recovery after incarceration. She completed graduate social work internships at Providence Hospital, Medstar National Rehabilitation Hospital, and DaVita dialysis in Washington, D.C. She has diverse experience in providing psychosocial care to patients suffering from a wide range of chronic physical conditions such as HIV, ESRD, and traumatic brain injuries. In this work, she provided care to clients through a range of mental health concerns related to depression, anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD, and substance use.
Lisa’s background in inpatient and outpatient medical settings contributes to her special interest in working with clients as they build resilience and practice acceptance while adjusting to significant life or health changes, trauma, grief and loss. She is fascinated by the brain-gut connection and the interplay of physical and mental health. Lisa has the most experience working with adults and those into later adulthood but enjoys working with younger clients as well.
Outside of therapy, Lisa is an avid baker and nature lover, and she loves finding new coffee shops in the DMV to try.
