Penney offers clients a warm, affirming and non-judgmental environment to help clients process their experiences, find their strengths, and move towards increasing well-being. Her therapeutic philosophy is integrative, using evidence-based therapies to identify tools to support clients to help them work towards their goals. She works with modalities such as motivational interviewing (MI), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, social skills training, trauma-informed care, expressive therapies, and movement. Penney enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults.
Penney grew up in the Midwest and has since lived in many different geographic areas of the United States, Africa, and the Caribbean. She recently graduated with a master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Her background is in art education and information technology.
