Lora Vaughan, MA, LCPC, Board Approved Supervisor, (pronouns: she/her/hers). Lora Vaughan received her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University Maryland in 2003, and completed coursework for her Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor credentialing at Loyola University Maryland in 2008. Ms. Vaughan has over twenty years of clinical experience working with adults, adolescents, and families in inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient settings. She worked on the Trauma Disorders Unit at Sheppard Pratt Hospital (2000-2005) where she received specialized training and clinical experience in treating and supporting people with trauma-related disorders (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Dissociation, Dissociative Identity Disorder), as well as anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and borderline personality disorder. In 2003 she completed the comprehensive training for Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and incorporated the DBT skill set into the treatment protocol at the Trauma Disorders Day Hospital at Sheppard Pratt. Ms. Vaughan began working in private practice in 2003, offering her expertise in trauma-related disorders and comprehensive DBT on an outpatient basis. She utilizes several evidence-based therapeutic approaches to therapy, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Prolonged Exposure (PE). Ms. Vaughan approaches therapy with patience and compassion, seeing the potential in each client, particularly when they are unable to see it or believe it themselves. She collaborates with each client to cultivate a safe and nurturing environment, and helps clients learn and gain skills for mindfulness, acceptance, self-compassion, healing, inspiration, and growth. In her free time, Ms. Vaughan enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, singing and playing music, gardening, reading, and baking.
