Tori Kerr, LMSW

Tori is a therapist and substance use specialist. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Social Work, where she obtained her master’s degree in clinical social work and was awarded a fellowship for students working in the field of substance use treatment. Her undergraduate education is in English and creative writing from George Washington University.

Prior to joining HFG, Tori had a wide variety of experience in the human services field. She has worked as an after-school counselor and a social worker at a community legal aid clinic. After completing her graduate school field work as a student therapist at HFG, Tori returned to the practice as a licensed clinician. Her clinical experience includes outpatient and intensive outpatient levels of care. A lifelong animal lover, she has also worked as a pet adoption counselor and rescue coordinator.

Tori’s therapeutic approach is rooted in psychodynamic theory, centering clients’ personal histories and stories. Tori’s nonjudgmental and creative style also utilizes elements of narrative therapy and harm reduction. Overall, Tori brings a social justice framework to her care, using a holistic view of how our identities and experiences shape our stories.
In her free time, Tori can be found next to her dog on the couch reading novels, watching movies, and eating pizza.
