Dr. Sarah Johnson views both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology as valuable tools for treating psychiatric illness. She particularly enjoys partnering with patients in the psychotherapeutic setting to improve their quality of life. Dr. Johnson is a judicious prescriber of medication who prioritizes shared decision-making. She has a special interest in the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders.
Dr. Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis, a law degree from New York University, and a medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center and Sheppard Pratt Health System, where she received extensive training in psychopharmacology and psychotherapy in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Johnson also completed a fellowship with the Washington Baltimore Center for Psychoanalysis.
