Bob Polin, AYT, Advanced Year Therapist

Bob is an advanced year therapist enrolled at the University of Maryland Baltimore. He specializes in working with adolescents, young adults, and adults with concerns related to anxiety, trauma, family conflict, grief, ADHD, depression, relationship struggles, career challenges, and self-esteem. Bob also focuses on the treatment of substance use for which he was awarded a fellowship from the University of Maryland School of Social Work.
Bob’s approach to therapy involves building trust with clients by creating a non-judgmental and safe environment. He believes that a strong therapeutic alliance is necessary to improve well-being and affect change. He views clients as the experts on themselves and believes they are their own best agents for change. His therapeutic approaches include Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Psychotherapy.
Bob studied history at Dartmouth College and graduated from the UCLA School of Law. He also works as an environmental lawyer, and his experience as a lawyer has taught him the value of empathetic listening, creative problem solving, collaboration, and appreciating the uniqueness of each situation.
Bob is originally from Los Angeles and has lived in New York City and New Hampshire. In his free time, Bob enjoys rowing on the Anacostia and Potomac Rivers, trying to learn Dutch, and spending time with his wife, three children, and two dogs.
