Dr. Vivienne Gomes is an Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who transitioned to the DC Metro in 2015. She provides both therapy, and medicaiton management services to her clients; focusing on the minimization of pharmacologic intervention, and values collaboration among a treatment team.
Prior to her arrival at Healthy Foundations Group, Dr. Gomes provided intensive care for clients in residential, acute inpatient and partial hospitalization program settings, while also managing an outpatient clinic for children and adolescents. Dr. Gomes earned her Doctor of Medicine at University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine after graduation from Clark Atlanta University with Bachelor of Science in Allied Health-Community Health Education. She completed her adult psychiatry residency at Michigan State, and her child psychiatry training at Brown University.
Dr. Gomes has an extensive background in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), having trained at The Linehan Institute. It is also worthwhile noting that, while obtaining her undergraduate degree, she was a college athlete, winning both national and regional championships in two sports; briefly competing professionally.
When not at work, Dr. Gomes continues to enjoy athletic training, journaling, traveling and community activism.
